One of the messages I hope to share is that moments of difficulty can also be opportunities for meaningful and positive change. For me, this journey became one of the greatest challenges of my life. It invited me to look more deeply at who I am, how I move through the world, and how I care for myself and others. Over time, I came to believe that even in the midst of crisis, there can be moments of growth, insight, and unexpected beauty.

Another intention of mine is to encourage thoughtful exploration of care options. Each person’s situation is unique, and decisions around treatment are deeply personal. I simply wish to share that there may be approaches beyond surgery worth learning about and discussing with trusted professionals. This is not meant to discourage anyone from the path they’ve chosen—many people have undergone surgery and continue to explore complementary ways to support their wellbeing. Every journey deserves respect.

I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type 1 in March of 2012. Rather than pursuing decompression surgery at that time, I chose to explore a gentle, non-invasive approach through NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association), alongside supportive lifestyle practices such as nutrition, movement, meditation, and emotional and spiritual self-work. Over time, these choices helped me feel more balanced, and today I experience long periods of relief from symptoms. This is simply my personal experience, shared with care and humility.

I believe in giving the body patience, kindness, and time. Gentle approaches such as upper cervical care, acupuncture, nourishing food, hydration, rest, and mindful practices may offer support for some people, particularly when explored thoughtfully and in partnership with qualified practitioners. Small lifestyle shifts—like eating whole foods, breathing with intention, resting when needed, and cultivating positive inner dialogue—can also be meaningful acts of self-care.

During the most intense phase of my journey in 2012, I worked daily to shift fear and stress toward healing and self-understanding. It was not easy, but the growth that came from that period has shaped me profoundly. Today, I feel more grounded, emotionally healthy, and connected to myself than I did before.

The purpose of this site is to offer information, perspective, and encouragement to those navigating life with Chiari Malformation Type 1 and related challenges. You are not alone in the frustration, the uncertainty, or the emotional weight this condition can bring. My hope is that these words offer reassurance, gentle guidance, and the reminder that your path is your own—and that meaningful change, support, and healing are possible in many forms.
